I began to experiment with mosaic over ten years ago progressing from a lifetime creative passion in textiles. I attended a number of workshops and courses with different tutors both in the UK and abroad in order to learn different techniques, styles and methods with this medium.
My work is varied, from the precise and intricate to free and quirky. Pieces of material are individually cut by hand to fit next to each other. I make two and three dimensional pieces for the home and garden and items small enough to wear. Inspiration comes from everywhere, including the materials themselves. I use upcycled items, vintage china, found objects, vitreous glass, stone, smalti, costume jewellery, fused and stained glass, and thoroughly enjoy the challenge of creating something interesting, and original. No two projects are ever the same and mosaic is a medium of infinite possibility.
I take part in Surrey Artists Open Studios and sell my work at art and craft fairs.
